When the demon Hiranyaksha kidnapped Bhoomidevi (Mother Earth) and dragged her to the bottom of the sea of creation, Lord Vishnu, assuming the form of a massive boar, swam to the bottom and carried her up on his tusks.

My love for these mythological stories have fueled my imagination from a young age, and they hold a very dear place in my heart. Reading Amar Chitra Katha comics and listening to my grandparents’ stories would make me feel as though I was beside the heroes and heroines, aiding their fight against evil in the world.

This scene is symbolic of the state of our Earth’s environment. The dark clouds in the background signify the inevitable destruction of our Earth if we do not make an effort to save it from pollution and climate change.

Everything in the scene is hand-modeled and texture painted from scratch. I started by modeling the boar, used hair and water simulations to give the artwork a natural feel, then added volumetrics for the clouds, and I composited the piece - adding various effects to make the artwork more dynamic.
